🙌 Why Volunteer?
Volunteering at the NGH Summer Event isn't just about giving your time, it's about gaining something too. Here's what's in it for you:
Hands-on experience supporting the delivery of a professional careers event
The opportunity to network with industry professionals and partner organisations on the day
Meaningful work experience and skill development you can add to your CV and talk about in interviews
Recognition and potential future opportunities with Next Gen Hub
We're committed to creating an inclusive and neuroinclusive environment for all volunteers. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, and if you require any reasonable adjustments whether to the application process or on the day itself so just let us know. We'll work with you to make sure you can participate fully and comfortably.
👥 The Volunteer Roles
We have three volunteering roles available for the event. Here's a quick breakdown of each:
Event Volunteer
This is a front-facing role at the heart of the event. As an Event Volunteer, you'll be welcoming and registering attendees, directing people to the right spaces, and helping to keep the day running smoothly from start to finish. You'll work across either a morning shift (9:30am – 1:00pm) or an afternoon shift (1:00pm – 5:00pm) depending on your choice.
You're a great fit if you're approachable, proactive, and comfortable communicating with a wide range of people. Everything you need to know will be covered in a short online briefing before the event.
Event Support Volunteer – Set-Up / Set-Down Team
If you'd prefer to be behind the scenes, this one's for you. The Set-Up Team will arrive ahead of attendees to prepare the event space from arranging registration areas, setting up signage, and making sure everything is ready to go. The Set-Down Team steps in once the event wraps with supporting the clearing and resetting of spaces.
Shifts are short: Set-Up runs 9:00am – 9:30am and Set-Down runs 5:00pm – 5:30pm.
Please note this role involves some manual handling and lifting. You'll indicate your preference (Set-Up or Set-Down) in your application.
Event Videography Volunteer
Got a passion for capturing moments? We're looking for a Videography Volunteer to document the event across key moments including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and the energy of the day. You'll be capturing short clips (30–60 seconds), checking your equipment is ready, and uploading all files to the drive at the end of your shift. This role is available across morning or afternoon shifts.
Previous videography experience is a bonus but not essential instead a willingness to learn and ask questions matters more!
📩 How to Apply
Ready to get involved? Apply now using the link below (it only takes a few minutes). You'll be asked to indicate which role you're interested in and your preferred shift where applicable.
Want to see the venue before the big day? We're hosting a walkthrough at the event venue on Monday 11th May which will be a great opportunity to get a feel for the space, ask any questions, and apply in person if you haven't already (if you want to attend, message Rayaan Farah on LinkedIn)
Before the event, all volunteers will also be invited to an online briefing session in the week commencing 8th June (specific date to be confirmed), where we'll walk through the roles in detail, answer any questions, and make sure you're fully prepared and confident going into the day.
Be part of a movement that's helping shape the future of young people across the West Midlands. We'd love to have you with us on 18th June😊
